Update on health related matters considered by Staffordshire County Council (To receive an update from County Councillor J Oates) Minutes: County Councillor J Oates reported that an item considered at the previous Healthy Staffordshire Select Committee was the provision of integrated stroke service, where the initial hyper acute stroke medicine (first 72 hours) would be delivered from Derby and therefore the impact for Tamworth residents would be the additional travel time to Derby (rather than Burton). However, it was recognised that many Tamworth residents received initial acute stroke care at either Heartlands hospital or Coventry Walsgrave Hospital. County Councillor J Oates further reported that the data the Select Committee was provided with demonstrated that the recovery rates for patients who were initially treated at a specialist centre were significantly better than those who were not.
