The Minutes of the previous Health and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee held on the 14 June 2017 were approved and signed as a correct record.

To receive any declarations of Members’ interests (pecuniary and non-pecuniary) in any matters which are to be considered at this meeting.

When Members are declaring a pecuniary or non-pecuniary interest in respect of which they have dispensation, they should specify the nature of such interest.  Members should leave the room if they have a pecuniary or non-pecuniary interest in respect of which they do not have a dispensation. 

There were no Declarations of Interest.

There was no update from the Chair at this present time.

In the absence of County Councillor A Little, there was no update from Staffordshire Health Select Committee.  When minutes from the last Staffordshire Health Select Committee meeting are received they will be forwarded to Members.

Members felt that the 2017/18 Forward Plan was quite light.

Following a discussion, Members request an update on the Against Hate Campaign be brought to the meeting on 24^th August 2017.

·         Usage of outdoor gyms to be carried forward from the previous year under Life Expectancy Review.  A working group to be formed, consisting of Councillor A James, C Cooke and J Faulkner, reporting back at the meeting on 12^th October 2017.

·         Dementia Friendly update provisionally scheduled for 1^st February 2018.

·         Corporate Plan – retender debt and general advice service review scheduled for 22^nd March 2018.

·         Procedures and protection of High Rise blocks for fire safety – the Chair proposed an additional meeting to solely look at this matter in light of recent developments in London.  Initial requests for information on regulations and guidance for residential properties have been made to Rob Barnes – Corporate Director Communities, Partnership and Housing, this will be forwarded as soon as possible.

·         Sustainability and transformation plan – Burtons Hospital Trust to potentially merge with Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – the effects on Tamworth.  The Chair to invite the Clinical Commissioning Group in to discuss further on 12^th October 2017.

·         Inequalities in GP surgeries across Tamworth will be explored through a working group consisting of Councillors M Oates, C Cooke, J Faulkner and A Couchman with an update meeting to be held as an additional meeting on 9^th January 2018.

·         Community Development Services Review initially to invite Cabinet member/s to the meeting on 24^th August 2017 to update on the current proposal.

·         Retirement Offer for Tamworth – initially raised by Councillor S Goodall, this area is far reaching and can explore many areas, a discussion took place and it was agreed that Councillor S Goodall would give the matter further thought and update the committee at the meeting on 24^th August 2017.
