Declarations of Interest

To receive any declarations of Members’ interests (pecuniary and non-pecuniary) in any matters which are to be considered at this meeting.

 

When Members are declaring a pecuniary or non-pecuniary interest in respect of which they have dispensation, they should specify the nature of such interest.  Members should leave the room if they have a pecuniary or non-pecuniary interest in respect of which they do not have a dispensation.

To receive any announcements from the Mayor, Leader, Members of the Cabinet or the Chief Executive

Minutes:

Mayor R Kingstone announced the following;

 

I have just one announcement which is to remind you that next week’s meeting, the 17th March, will be back at the Council Chamber at the Town Hall because we now have heating. Tea and Coffee will be available.

We are due to present a couple of certificates so there will be a buffet and drinks so please feel free to stay afterwards.

(Report of the Leader of the Council)

 

The debate will focus on Town Centre Regeneration and Evolution.

 

The Leader of the Council will provide an introduction to the following items:

 

  • History of Gungate purchase and emerging Town Centre Master Plan
  • The Future High Streets Fund
  • Town Centre vacancy rates and interventions
  • Tamworth What’s Next summary findings
  • Budget Consultation 2020/21 feedback on town centre

 

Each Councillor can speak once for 5 minutes maximum.

 

This will leave roughly 25 minutes at the end of the meeting for any motions, agreement or further review of any topic.

The Leader of the Council presented his report on ‘Town Centre Regeneration and Evolution’ before Members went on to debate this topic.

 

Following the debate there were 2 recommendations put forward.

 

 

RESOLVED

That;

 

Tamworth Borough Council does more to consult with younger people (Schools, Colleges, Youth Community Groups) with regards to their views on the future of the Town Centre.

 

 

 

(Moved by Councillor R Ford and seconded by Councillor C Cooke)

 

On being put to the vote the Recommendation was carried.

The Council establish a cross party working group to discuss the future of the Town Centre
